Strengthen & Protect A Damaged Tooth With An Inlay Or Onlay

Call Us About Inlay & Onlay Treatment Today

It used to be that the focus of dentists was on treating dental problems and not necessarily on improving smile aesthetics. Now, thanks to fantastic developments in dentistry and restoration technology, offering beautiful smile results while caring for and restoring teeth is at the core of what we do.

Did you know that:

Smiling is a cross-cultural method for communication a range of feelings and emotions.
It’s scientifically proven that it’s difficult to frown while someone smiles at you.
The act of smiling causes the body to release feel-good endorphins. Yes, even a fake smile!
Smiling is known to lower stress and blood pressure levels.

How can you bolster your smile? Replacing amalgam fillings when they’re old, worn, or compromised is one way. Natural-looking alternatives look subtle, beautiful and provide teeth-strengthening benefits, and among your options for these treatments are “inlays” and “onlays.” Made from tooth-coloured materials that are undetectable by most people, each treatment is designed to restore premolars (the two teeth behind your eye teeth) and molars that are experiencing tooth decay.

One solid piece that’s made to have the size and shape of the cavity left behind after decay is cleared, they are ideal for use when a tooth has too much damage for a filling but doesn’t need a porcelain crown.

Inlay – Made to fit into the tooth’s biting surface, between the cusps.
Onlay – Covers one or more tooth cusps.

Each of these restorations are customized to your needs. After an impression of your prepared tooth is made, we send it to a lab where technologists will craft the ideal restoration. While we wait for this restoration, our team will add a temporary filling to support it until your inlay or onlay is completed and can be placed.

Curious about whether these options are right for you? Call Bathurst St. Clair Dental Studio your dentist in Toronto, to discuss!
